2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. flour
dash pepper
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup shredded American cheese
Make a white sauce by combining the butter, flour and milk and cook over hot water in a double boiler until the mixture has thickened. Add remaining ingredients and stir until cheese has melted. This is a good sauce to use over vegetables or add to elbow macaroni for mac and cheese.
